    My friends who applied after me got it and I'm moving in 2 weeks.
    In case your FP notice does not arrive before you move, you may want to arrange with someone to monitor your mailbox. I read somewhere USPS does not forward USCIS letters to the new address (assuming it is a permanent move), in which case the notice may go back undelivered.

    I always thought EB1 has nothing to do employer and one can self-sponser it :confused:
    In this case the guy is a software engineer. The consulting company is willing to show that he is a manager.

    First I want to learn to take more pictures. I never seem to have the urge, opportunity and camera all in the same place at the same time.

    I also would like to learn what to take pictures of. I am obviously limited by the capabilities of my Cybershot and circular polarizer. What kinds of photographs, subjects and conditions should I concentrate on so that I can take pictures I will be pleased with?

    I live in Houston.

    We are planning to go to India in the last week of September. My current AP expires by Oct 10. Hence applying for a new one. How long are AP approvals taking now a days at TSC.

    I e-filed my AP renewal on May 25th, mailed the supporting docs the next day. TSC approved my AP on June 19th and I received the AP in mail on June 21st.

    You can write a balance-transfer-cheque to your own name (which you can deposit to your checkings account) of amount upto your credit limit on that credit card.
    I had 25k credit limit on my credit card, so i could balance-transfer that much. usually if you have a 3-4 years credit history, you can call up the credit card company and ask them to raise your credit limit.
    Balance transfers - 0% APR are generally good for 9 months to 1 year loan only. So you will have to repay within a year. But you can keep doing that for 2-3 years till you pay off your complete loan.


    thanks a lot. that seems like a good idea. My CL is 10k on one CC and 12k on the other one but I will call my bank and request a raise and then do a balance transfer of as much as I can get.

    bottomline: its a gray area and no one is sure. There is no law against doing it, some lawyers recommend it (Rajiv Khanna), others discourage as it could confuse USCIS and cause delays (Murthy) yet others say its simply not allowed.

    Not the usual ones like tajmahal or gateway of india etc. Thank you.

    Dear All,
    My wife had applied for H1 last year through one desi employer. We received the H1. The employer took initial money from us to pay for the H1 fees promising that once project got started he would pay back. But during search for a project he mentally harassed us a lot. Luckily my PD became current, my wife got EAD and we could work independently. We were thinking of complaint against him to DOL. We have even prepared the case with all the documents and everything.
    We were ready to send it but yesterday we came across a case of one Vishal Goyal who sued Patni for paying him low wages. Patni then threatened to harm his family in india if he doesent withdraw the case.
    We are just afraid of something like that. I request people to please share if they have been abused by desi employer and if they have sucessfully complained to DOL and their experience in what they went through. Thank You.

    That's true for my case. My labor certification was denied once due to the naive aknowledge of my para-legal attorney. It caused my LC was delay 1 year then I was stuck by Retrogression. Again at filing I-485, if I have not carefully studied the immi laws and reviewed my case, my attorney might mess it up. Many times I found my non-professional, clumsy knowledge on Immi laws is even better than my para-legal attorney

    Hello Everyone,

    I currently have an employment based I-485 application pending (EB3, India). My application was filed when I was single. Now my spouse is getting ready to file his 140/485concurrently (EB2 NIW, non-retrogressed country). Since I already have a pending 485 application, we do not plan on submitting another 485 application for me when he files his. My understanding is that once he receives his 485 receipt notice, we would just need to inform USCIS that both our 485 applications need to be merged (his being the primary, and mine being the derivative). I just wanted to confirm that this is correct, or if there is anything else that needs to be done.

    Please advise.

    I had infopass appointment 2 days ago to enquiry about name check status. You stand on the line the security guy check your infopass appointment confirmation letter, and verifies the appointment time. if it is > 15 min. then he asks you to come 15 min. before. The receiptionist calls the next person in line. Takes the infopass appointment cfrm letter, and ask for what is the purpose of the appointment. Once she verifies it, If she gives you a token then you will go inside and talk to immigration officer.

    I had filed labor in June 2008 and as per the attorney they havent received any update from DOL. I had requested my employer/attorney to atleast send a screenshot of my status and they say cases that old are hard to pull up on DOL website. Is it really that hard with DOL to login and see the status as compared to USCIS? For my comfort I requested them to send me a screenshot and I am getting stiffed even on that! Can you please answer if attorneys can login to DOL and see the status of any PERM applicant? In this age of electronic media a department as big as DOL doesnt even provide updates to applicants/firms to view their statuses?

    you can search for cases filed using start and end date - its nothing fancy or interesting as you might have imagined - if your employer is indeed saying that its hard to pull old cases - its total BS -- either they dont want you to worry or they dont want to divulge your case number

    Thanks for your list. So it seems we can do it without attorney help. I am not sure what my attorney is doing its been a month since he had all the papers and fee. I am going to try filing myself:mad:
