It is possible to obtain extended B-2 status based on the need for medical treatment in certain cases. In addition to providing strong documentation of your son's medical needs, you would also need to show that he would not be able to get adequate treatment in your home country. Additionally, you would have to provide documentation to show financial resources sufficient to support your family without having to work in the US.

I am on F1 visa. I enrolled in one of the university. I don't attend university in person. I do attend classes online from another state. My question is that I am resident of which state ?? Will I be automatically resident of state where exactly my university is ? I know it is mandatory to attend classes in person on F1. Can you please advise ? How is residency considered ?

If you are on F1, you need to be attending courses in-person - so e-learning/ distance learning is a voilation per-se of F1.
Now, if you were attending the courses in-person, you can be residing anywhere (particularly in cities close to state borders), and your residency will be the address where you are staying, not the university you are enrolled in. There is nothing in the rules to be a resident of the same state as your Univ is.

Yes, The VISA page is readable. But I am not sure if it is readable by machines electronically in case if there is any invisible damage to it. Does it must be readable by electronic machines too?

The top users of the H-1B program for 2009 included multi-national technology companies headquartered, and with branch offices in Silicon Valley. Wipro tops the list with 1,964 new H-1B visas. Microsoft is second with 1318, but then Intel Corp has a big drop off at 723 H-1B's The list of Silicon Valley companies continues, including Infosys Technologies (440), Qualcomm (320), Cisco (308), Oracle (272), Google (211), Yahoo (183), Apple (168), Nvidia (130), and Hewlett Packard (115). While there is no way to know whether these companies sponsored employees located in Silicon Valley, as opposed to another office location, it is clear that high-tech and Silicon Valley are standouts on the list of H-1B employers.
Those who assume the H-1B is a tool used primarily by IT companies may be surprised to see the number of prestigious universities and medical facilities also nearing the top of the list. H-1B visas are work visas for professional workers who typically require at least a Bachelor's degree for entry into their profession. In my experience, that level of qualification might cut it for a community college (that gives associate degrees) or adjunct positions (very low paid temporary positions) in 4 year colleges, but won't for a full time tenure track position (requires Ph.D.). Business schools might have some flexibility in hiring if the person has a very strong business background (e.g., CEO of some company).
Anyway, most academic positions are advertised in academickeys.com and the Chronicle of Higher Education. Around bay area, other than Stanford and Berkeley, you have SJSU.

I filed my AP on April 29th,2008. I had one LUD on July 8th , the status was case pending and another one today,today status changed to

Current Status: Document mailed to applicant.
On July 10, 2008 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.
Any idea what does this mean? Is it approved or something else.

my company lawyer did not ask for any tax returns or w2 forms .. Should they be submitted as part of "initial evidence"
Tax returns are not part of "initial evidence". You have to provide them if asked by the USCIS.
BTW, the IRS will mail you tax transcripts for free if you call them. You will get them within a few days.

I am planning to apply for Schengen visa in an Italian consulate. I have an expired H1 but a valid AP. According to the italian consulate website, here is one of the visa requirements
"passport or travel document valid for at least three months after visa expiry date"
My passport is expiring in 2 years but my AP will be expiring in about 2 1/2 months from the Schengen visa expiry. Will I have an issue getting a visa ?
Do I have a workaround ?

I did change my address when my 140 is pending, i did take care of AR11 form and after that you will be given a screen for change of address on the pending applications, i did do that too.
After 3 days LUD was also changed with the new address change, i received a letter from USCIS about the change of my address on file.
My 140 also approved successfully on 08/15/2007

My wife and I are currently working on EAD and have used the AP to entry the US. We will be going to the Canadian consulate to apply for Canadian Visa (want to go on vacation). I had the following questions:-
1) What all papers are required?
2) How long will they issue the canadian visa for? I am planning on obtaining a multiple entry visa. When I was on H1 they issued me a visa which was till the end of my H1 expiration date.

1) I had read somewhere that USCIS was going to stop the same. Has that happened yet?
2) Say a person has applied for the I-140 but cannot simaltaneously apply for 485 due to retrogression. In the event that the dates become current BUT the I-140 is not yet approved, can the person still file for the 485 under the simultaneous filing or does he have to wait till the I-140 is actually approved?

I would suggest you go after July....Your stamping is not an issue here.....The issue will be with your I-94 when you get back into US...Since your new H1 doesnt start until July 31st, if you try to enter US in June, your new I-94 will only be valid until July 30 as the immigration officer cannot grant you entry until July 2010 based on future approval start date if its not within 15 days...My friend was in this situation before and he had to file for extension again as he only got his new I-94 valid until the date of his old I-797...
